Must See Maternity Posing Guide
I did a maternity photo shoot in Malibu for a friend yesterday and it was a Blast! We had so much fun, even though it was raining and a little cold at the beach. The whole vibe was very relaxed, and we got to try out a lot of fun poses and props.
Three factors went in to making this such a great experience for me:
- My friend is a happy, laid back person, and she’s handling pregnancy very well (she’s also lovely and if she lived closer I would use her as a model more often!)
- The other Photographer I shot with was incredibly well prepared. She brought a ton of props, had an iPad full of inspirational photos, and a check list of the shots she wanted to get. I had a rough idea of what I wanted to shoot, but having a real list of shots really helped a ton!
- I checked out this maternity posing guide before the shoot. It’s an incredible resource for anyone interested in photographing pregnant ladies. It helped me get more personality in my pictures, show off the belly in more attractive ways, and keep my friend looking adorable, rather than just big.
I can’t recommend this site enough! It has advice on specific poses that look great, tips for making your backdrop look professional, and lots and lots of examples for inspiration and to show you what looks good, and what doesn’t.
If you know someone with a bun in the oven and you want to take their picture, check this posing guide out first! It might make the difference between an OK shoot and a great one.
I’ll show you some of the photos I took yesterday as soon as I get the OK from my friend. Stay Tuned!
